2015 Was One Heck Of A Year

Hey everyone! I hope you all had an amazing Christmas! Ours was SO hectic, but so much fun!

I can’t believe it’s already the end of the year. Time can go by so ridiculously fast sometimes. 2015 was a crazy year for my family and I. We definitely had our ups and our downs. One thing I learned this year was how to really be myself. To do what makes me happy and what I think is right, no matter what anyone else thinks.

I did an all pink outfit post for Valentine’s Day this year. Which I LOVE that outfit. But the whole time that I was taking the pictures I was wishing that I had pink hair as well. It’s something that I’ve wanted to do for years, but I couldn’t ever do it because of either having a job that didn’t allow it, being pregnant/breastfeeding or just being scared to try it. I’ve also wanted to try a pixie cut as well. (I mean, your baby can only pull your hair so many times before you start dreaming of something different!) So after that outfit post I finally got up the courage and had BOTH things done at the same time. And I loved it!

Jeremy and I spent months earlier this year looking for a house. We had our hearts broken a few times in the process. But eventually we found the PERFECT house for us. And then we spent all of May doing a cosmetic renovation on our house before we moved in.

And after all of that work, Jeremy and I decided that we needed a vacation. We hadn’t taken one since before the kids were born. So it was definitely time! We went to South Padre Island and had an amazing time. And I took not one, but two outfit pictures while we were there. One even featured this really awesome work-out mermaid!

But then a really HORRIBLE thing happened. We found out that Atlas’ hemoglobin count was extremely low and he ended up needing a blood transfusion. Luckily, the issue wasn’t anything major. But it taught me, as a parent, to start speaking up when I think that something may not be right. Even if people do think that I’m an enormous worry wart mommy. So be it.

This year I decided to start blogging about more of my interests. So I wrote about some of my favorite things. Including the animated movie Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart, the video game Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, and one of my favorite books, Wicked Plants by Amy Stewart.

I also did a Steampunk outfit post for the first time!  And I can’t wait to try more of these!

And I did a really crazy thing and committed to participating in NaNoWriMo for the month of November. I had no idea what to expect from this endeavor and was totally surprised when I actually finished my novel on time!

Honestly, I’m really proud of myself for continuing to blog. This time last year I dropped the ball on blogging. Jeremy was gone for 4 weeks (training in another state) around Thanksgiving and Christmas and it was rough on all of us. So, blogging took a back seat and I wasn’t sure how to get back into it. This past summer I just decided to hold my breath and dive back into it. And I don’t regret it at all. I’m learning how to really be myself and to blog about what makes me happy. And I love that I’m meeting people who are interested in the same things as I am!

  1. Thank you for posting! I’m glad for all of this year’s lessons, you look GREAT with the pink pixie, and here’s hoping 2016 is even better. I’m very glad to have ‘met’ you this year 🙂

  2. Happy 2016! I hope the new year brings you nothing but great things!

(And I gotta say, your hair is definitely tempting me to go for a new color!)

    1. Aww thanks! I bet you could! I have such naturally dark hair (and I’ve always had it long) that I really wasn’t sure what a pink pixie would look like. You just have to go for it and see what happens! 😀

  3. Wow~ Your house deco is like a dream world! I love the pink stripe wall and the last photo of this post, you look like a princess from a fairy tail…

    1. Thank you so much! That’s definitely the kind of atmosphere that I’m trying to create in my home 😀 I’m just lucky that my husband was OK with a pink striped room, haha 💗

  4. I’m seriously considering a pixie cut even though I’m a curly locks. I’ll only know if I do it so when I next get my hair cut, I’m pretty sure I’ll go for it. I’m in a transitional time for the next couple of years so I’ll take small steps to change things up but although pastel hair really won’t be my thing, I think I’ll follow your lead on the cut 😛

      1. I agree, there’s too much emphasis on long hair like it’s the holy grail of hair but people should try short hair more often. I think it will actually be harder to maintain for me because I have curly hair but I’m willing to give it a try
