Sally, Ironman, and Some Soggy Shoes

Pastel Carousel | Family Halloween | Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas and Ironman CostumesI hope everyone had an amazing Halloween this year! Our Halloween turned out to be a little rough for Jeremy and I. We usually have two Halloweens every year. One with my parents and one with Jeremy’s parents. On the weekend we spent celebrating Halloween with my parents it RAINED. I mean, it poured and flooded and it was a huge mess. We weren’t even sure if we were going to be able to make it to the church festival because of all the flooded areas. Thank you, Texas weather. But we made it and we were soaking wet and the kids rode the ponies and the train and had an awesome time.

Shade’s costume! She was Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Pastel Carousel | Our Halloween | Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas and Ironman CostumesGuys, she was SO excited about this costume. I ordered it early, but I still almost missed out. It was sold out everywhere. Luckily I found one and she couldn’t stop running around the house when it came in the mail. Of course that could’ve been because Starbucks accidently put coffee in her no-coffee Frappuccino, but I digress. She loved it, but she was pretty disappointed when no one knew who she was dressed up as. One kid thought she was Ariel. She said, “Mommy, nobody knows who I am…” in a very sad tone. It broke my heart. I told her that just means that she’ll have to tell them who she is and be proud of the fact that she’s seen a movie that not many kids have seen.

“It’s just a wig!” She kept telling everyone who told her that they loved her hair.

And she got her face painted. She chose a spider and I was SHOCKED. But then I realized that it goes with the whole Tim Burton/The Nightmare Before Christmas theme and I was so proud of Shade. She knew what face paint to pick to stay in character.Pastel Carousel | Our Halloween | Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas and Ironman CostumesPastel Carousel | Our Halloween | Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas and Ironman Costumes

And Atlas has been in love with Ironman since last year. So his costume was a no-brainer.Pastel Carousel | Our Halloween | Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas and Ironman Costumes Although I do think it’s kind of ironic since he just had issues with having iron deficiency anemia. But his numbers are GREAT now and that really does make him IRONman in my book. Just like with Shade, I could tell he was very proud of his costume. But we chose to leave his mask and gloves at home. They were a little too big and uncomfortable.

He got the hang of taking out his pacifier for pictures. And we never even asked him to do it!Pastel Carousel | Our Halloween | Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas and Ironman CostumesPastel Carousel | Our Halloween | Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas and Ironman Costumes

And Jeremy went as “Mistah J” to my Harley Quinn.Pastel Carousel | Our Halloween | Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas and Ironman Costumes

Thankfully it wasn’t raining on Halloween night! We spent that evening with Jeremy’s parents at another church festival. This was a much more ideal night to have Halloween. But it turned out to be colder than any of us was expecting. Plus I had been sick all week and still wasn’t feeling the best. But once again, the kids had an amazing time.

Shade loved the bounce house.Pastel Carousel | Our Halloween | Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas and Ironman Costumes

They loved the black light puppet theater!Pastel Carousel | Our Halloween | Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas and Ironman CostumesPastel Carousel | Our Halloween | Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas and Ironman Costumes

And Atlas discovered that his love for Sweet Tarts is strong.Pastel Carousel | Our Halloween | Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas and Ironman CostumesSo in spite of the rain at one Halloween and the cold at the other, Sally and Ironman really did have the best time of their lives. And isn’t that what really matters? I keep trying to tell that to my soggy shoes, but they won’t listen.
Pastel Carousel | Our Halloween | Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas and Ironman CostumesWhat did you guys do for Halloween? Did you and your kids have a great time? Or was it just the kids? Haha!

    1. Aw thank you! Yeah the first time Shade watched it she was pretty scared of Oogie Boogie, haha. I guess she’s gotten used to him now? I’m not sure. She does have a little Oogie Boogie bath toy. So that might’ve helped 💗
